notletty asked:
What’s your favorite book?
This is the most painful question you could probably ask me because I love so many great books. Any time I get this question, the answer inevitably changes because I’m enthralled with some new adventure and so the truth is I really don’t have nor will I probably ever have a favorite book.
But that’s not satisfying so… As of right now the one I an enjoying the most is my third reread of “The Name of The Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s party murder mystery, part dark fantasy, and part Harry Potter, with just a pinch of Lovecraft or perhaps Poe thrown in for good measure. Just to give you a little glimpse at the kind of whirlwind this book entails, here’s the promotional synopsis:
“I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. You may have heard of me…”
It’s highly dramatic, but intentionally so since the tale is told by the hero himself. And man, it’s a tough one for me to put down. Let me know if you give it a shot. I love to hear other’s thoughts on a good book.
